Old World Art is an artistic collaboration between Gaelen Armstrong (left) and Martin Brodeur (right). We began developing new techniques for working with copper in 2013. Marty has had a background in metalworking, mold making, and engineering since 1990. Gaelen comes from a multi-generational artistic family and has been working with various art forms since 2000.
We're interested in unique textures and patinas, and the variety of what copper offers as an artistic medium. We do everything by hand and in-house, and our materials are chosen with the longevity of the work in mind.
Our goal is to evoke balance and stillness in the viewer and in the artwork's environment. We're inspired by literature, natural history, architecture, and how the old world viewed art as an applied science - hence, Old World Art.
We like art that gives a sense of wonder and elevation, and we think that everywhere the eye falls the soul should be inspired by beauty.
